We've been asked about stocking edible bentonite clay a lot and now the wait is over!
This is a 100% Natural and edible montmorillonite clay from California Earth Minerals. Here's what they have to say about it;
Contains an exclusive form of ionically charged, ultra-fine naturally occurring Calcium Montmorillonite (Bentonite) clay powder. The colloidal, micron sized ionic minerals found in Terramin (ION-MIN®) include:
Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, Phosphorus, Manganese, Chromium, Zinc, Copper & Selenium. (For exact values please view the label above or the Consumer Product Guide below).
Terramin Powder is a pure mineral source that is free from any additives, stimulants, preservatives, extenders or radiation and has a pH of 8.3
Mined from a rare and unique mineral deposit in the Colorado river delta, deep within the Californian desert, the Terramin mineral deposit has been used since 1946 and gained approval from NASA for use by Astronauts in space to counteract the effects of bone de-mineralisation and osteoporosis, caused by zero gravity. A copy of the NASA funded study can be viewed at the bottom of this page.
Terramin is frequently used to compliment detoxification programmes and provides a selection of essential dietary minerals. A comprehensive list of the mineral composition of Terramin can be viewed on the "Consumer Product Guide" below, as produced by California Earth Minerals 2009, which presents values as classified by the USDA.
As Terramin is a fully natural product, which is mined at different depths within the Earth's surface, there are slight natural variations in taste. Typically, Terramin has a neutral and non-descriptive flavour, producing a slight "milk" like taste, due to the calcium content. When drinking clay water it is advisable to ensure plenty of pure water is also consumed throughout the day to maintain hydration of the digestive tract and ensure the capacity for eliminating toxicity is maximised.
For regular use, California Earth Mineral's recommends consuming a 10g teaspoon of Terramin Powder, sprinkled into a 227ml glass of pure water, daily. It is best to stir the clay into the water using a wooden spoon (as provided) or similarly inert material to ensure the delicate ionic charge of the clay is not affected by having contact with metallic surfaces. Terramin clay water can be consumed directly after mixing, often there will be a small amount of settled clay in the bottom of the glass, to mobilise this, add a little more water and consume directly. If desired, this final mouthful of clay can be swished around the mouth in a similar manner to mouthwash. One teaspoon of clay can be consumed on a daily basis.
If using as part of a detoxification or colon cleansing program, consult a Naturopathic Health Care Practitioner for exact amounts that could be of most benefit for individual requirements.
Terramin can also be used for creating home-made natural oral hygiene products.
